An opulent but hard-to-categorize home sitting smack in the middle of a lake has just hit the market in Florida.
Dubbed “bizarrely unsettling” (among other spicy epithets) by Miami real estate publication The Big Bubble, the home was designed by renowned architect Charles Sieger for himself and his wife, Joanna. Known as the Château Artisan, the residence was built in 2007 in a quasi-French château style, with a pass-through gatehouse and symmetrical gardens.
Since he started as an architect in 1972, Sieger has become a leader of luxury development and is known as being responsible for much of Miami’s skyline.
The Château Artisan was built in 2007. Located at 25791 SW 167 Ave. in Homestead, the sprawling 20,000-square-foot house has eight “super yacht-like” bedrooms, according to the listing, as well as 12 baths and an elevator to get around. And it’s all sitting on a carved coral rock foundation, surrounded by a vast freshwater lake.
The two-story home offers a double-stair foyer, what looks like a cork-lined library (shades of Marcel Proust), a chef’s kitchen, music room and several fireplaces. There’s also a six-car garage.
The home is currently listed for $21,800,000 and the listing agent is Renzo Rossato with EXP Realty.
