, the Thornton Park seafood restaurant which underwent a re-do
in 2014 by chef Greg Richie, has served its last bowl of gumbo. Richie shared the restaurant's official statement:
"Cityfish Restaurant has closed as of July 13, 2015. We appreciate your support over the years and we enjoyed serving you. The space is being renovated by Thornton Park Restaurant Group and a new concept will open soon."
Last night was the final night for the restaurant, which will undergo a re-concepting with hopes to reopen in the fall. Rumors say it will reopen with an Asian-inflected menu, which fits with Richie's palate — his Soco
is a witty blend of the Asian with the Southern, and it's clear he has an appreciation of Eastern flavors.
Richie tells us, "We are not prepared to announce what it is just yet, but we are very excited about it."
Confirming another rumor bruited among local restaurant watchers that the old Urban Rethink space, empty since the culture hub closed its doors in 2013, will also be reborn as yet another restaurant, Richie continued: "Very soon after the opening of the new concept in the Cityfish space, TPRG will begin work in the Urban Rethink space next to Soco to bring another exciting concept to Thornton Park! I am looking forward to sharing more details as we move forward!"
It seems the Thornton Park Restaurant Group
will be busy-busy-busy this year.
