The Lucky Lure reels in the beachy set of Ivanhoe Village

A few of us from the OW editorial team hopped over to new bar the Lucky Lure in Ivanhoe Village last night for a couple of happy hour cocktails. It was our first time visiting the nautical-inspired watering hole, which is one of the newer bar residents to the Ivanhoe Row strip along North Orange Avenue. Here are a few photos I snapped while sipping on my drinks, and a rundown of my thoughts on the place.

Next: A view of the bar

click to enlarge The Lucky Lure's happy hour menu (3-7 p.m. daily) offers a variety of inexpensive drink specials, including $2.50 domestic beers and $4 call liquor drinks. We decided to go fancy and order the bar's specialty Lucky Lure margarita, which was decently strong with a nice coconut flavor. We got it on the rocks, but they also serve them frozen.

Next: Lucky Lure's sunset view

click to enlarge It might not be a view of the breaking waves, but you can enjoy a cocktail at Lucky Lure while overlooking the picturesque Lake Ivanhoe across the street. Add in the Bob Marley and Red Hot Chili Peppers playlist, and you'll feel like you're right at the shore.

Next: Lucky Lure's beer and liquor selection

click to enlarge We found it interesting that the Lucky Lure only serves beer in cans, although they do have a decent selection of beer. I sipped on an ice-cold Dale's Pale Ale after my margarita.

Next: Lucky Lure's resident crowd

click to enlarge While the Lucky Lure might have just recently opened, it seems as though the bar already has a devoted crowd of resident barflies, a group who acted as though they've been coming here for years. We agree the outdoor, laid-back vibe of Lucky Lure could easily hook in Orlando drinkers.

According to the Lucky Lure's Facebook page, the bar will soon start serving up food. The bar will also throw its first Full Moon Party on Aug. 21, for details go here.
