Call it ballet’s version of Dancing With the Stars: For the sixth year in a row, the finals of the World Ballet Competition in Orlando ends with this one-night-only All Stars of Dance performance, at which the big names in ballet from across the globe perform pieces written and directed by big-deal choreographers. Edgar Anido (from Cuba) and Viktor Plotnikov (from the Ukraine) will each unveil world-premiere choreographies, and Christopher Wheeldon, an internationally acclaimed modern-ballet choreographer who has worked with the Royal Ballet and the New York City Ballet, will debut a new piece in the performance. Maria Kochetkova, of the San Francisco Ballet and winner of NBC’s Superstars of Dance, will perform, as will members of the Boston Ballet and Washington Ballet ... but at this point, we’re just name-dropping. Modern ballet enthusiasts, this is a rare chance to see so many celebrated choreographers and dancers all working together for one event. – Eleanor Roy
