The new reservation pilot program kicks off at Wekiwa Springs March 12 and lasts through Sept. 1 as part of the park’s efforts to manage high attendance during peak seasons. It’s intended to reduce entry lines that stretch into nearby traffic and cause long wait times.
To visit the park for the day, guests will need to go to the Florida State Parks reservation page, select their preferred day and pay the entry fee.
The program will apply to all day-use guests, including annual pass holders. The window to make advanced reservations starts March 10, and reservations can be made up to 60 days in advance. Day-of reservations are also available up until the daily limit has been reached.
After making a reservation, visitors will need to provide proof of reservation receipt, digital or printed. Annual pass holders will need both their receipt and annual pass to enter.
“This reservation pilot program is part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing the visitor experience while preserving the natural resources we all cherish. By managing entry flow, we can reduce congestion and provide a more serene environment for everyone to explore and enjoy. Additionally, this change will allow our team to better focus on maintaining the park’s trails, facilities and wildlife for future generations,” reads a statement on the park’s webpage.
The Florida Park Service will determine whether the program should be continued or expanded after assessing its success at Wekiwa, according to Florida State Parks.
Further information about the pilot program, purchasing annual passes, reserving pavilions and more is available on Wekiwa Springs State Park’s site.
