A rainy evening didn’t deter over 650 folks from packing into downtown Orlando’s Beacham for the launch of Rep. Anna Eskamani’s 2027 campaign for Orlando mayor. The evening kicked off on a suitably adventurous note with the national anthem performed by players from the Ren Theatre, bolstered with an electric guitar. From there, the throng heard remarks from the likes of Andrea Montanez, Rep. LaVon Bracy Davis, Sen. Carlos Guillermo Smith, Echo King and even Christopher Norris (Eskamani’s high-school American Government teacher!). Eskamani took the stage and — after joking about the dress she bought at Ross the night before — laid out a vision for the city that stresses affordable housing, public transit, centering workers and protecting local small business.
