After announcing earlier this week that certain city parking garages in downtown Orlando would waive fees for parking ahead of Hurricane Milton’s arrival, the city warned on social media Wednesday morning that parking garages are now full.

This includes the following parking garages:

  • Central Boulevard Garage, located at 53 W. Central Blvd.
  • Jefferson Street Garage, located at 62 W. Jefferson St.
  • Library Garage, located at 112 E. Central Blvd.
  • Orange County Administration Garage, located at 300 Liberty Ave.
  • Amelia Street Garage at 355 Alexander Place
City officials on Monday announced that fees would be waived at these garages from 6 a.m. Wednesday through noon Friday, depending on weather conditions. The Amelia St. garage was designated a cost-free garage only Wednesday, just a few hours after the other garages opened as fee-free. Altogether, the garages have a capacity of about 3,500 spaces, a city spokesperson confirmed. City parking garages typically charge $2 per hour, or up to $15 max daily, while other privately owned garages may charge more.

Hurricane Milton is threatening to make landfall on Florida’s Gulf Coast late Wednesday as a Category 4 storm, according to the National Weather Service, and could reach the Orlando area as a Category 1 or 2 storm. Milton is expected to cause “life-threatening storm surge” along the Gulf Coast, which includes the Tampa Bay region.

While the storm is expected to weaken some by the time it reaches the Orlando area, local residents are still under a flood and tornado watch, and may see heavy rainfall, flash flooding, and strong winds of up to 80 mph.

The city of Orlando has updates available on storm preparation, including storm resources and information about supplies online at orlando.gov/storm. You can find information about shelters in Orange County at ocfl.net/shelters.
