Two gentle giants are now calling the Central Florida Zoo home.
Two 4-year-old female giraffes have been rehomed to the zoo and are now available to see in the back of the giraffe habitat.
The giraffes will move in with the zoo’s current male giraffe, Gage. While the three giraffes are not yet cohabitating, the zoo expects the three to become roommates in the fall.
While the new giraffes have not been named, the zoo says it’s eager to announce their names once picked. The two females are also 13 feet tall, about 2 feet smaller than the average giraffe height, which can be anywhere between 14 feet and 19 feet at adulthood. They are also smaller than Gage, who holds the title of the zoo’s largest mammal.
Guests can meet the pair during daily giraffe feedings. Gage is currently the only giraffe available for feedings, allowing guests to get up close and take a look at the giraffe’s 15-inch-long tongue.
Giraffe feedings are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily, and are $6 per guest and $5 for passholders.
