I can think of a gazillion things I’d rather do than insult Vampire Weekend’s new record, so if you were hoping for a true album review I’m sorry to disappoint you. Instead, I’m going to cut to the quick and prevent you from a dated, soul-torturing listen by sharing some of the recent releases from this year that made it into my earholes and didn’t prompt me to have vicious visions of George Michael resurrected from the pop music tomb. There’s a decent variety, so hopefully you find something you like here, but if you’re looking in-depth music reviews, including Melvins, King Tuff, Daft Punk, My Bloody Valentine, Charles Bradley, Matt Pond and more, we’ve got you covered here.
Thee Oh Sees – Floating Coffin
Samantha Crain – Kid Face
Dirty Beaches – Drifters/Love is the Devil
Mikal Cronin – MCII
Pissed Jeans – Honeys
Devendra Banhart – Mala

BONUS: Pretty & Nice plays Orlando on May 30 at the Peacock Room with the Pauses, Andy Matchett and Alexander and the Grapes.
