Santigold at the Beacham Wednesday was a stripped-down, funky, fun affair from a fearless performer who’s been pushing the boundaries of hip-hop, electronic music and indie for years.
The show started with a DJ set from Troy Baker Sound. TBS got the crowd moving with a well-crafted mix of reggae, dub and dancehall, pushing the bass of the Beacham’s sound system to the outer limits.
Finally it was time for the queen. Santigold and her minimal crew — two musicians and two background vocalists/dancers — were stunningly clad in all white, with matching white stage lighting. Santigold cut a striking figure onstage and her voice was incredibly strong, inducing goosebumps multiple times. It was an incredible night of music that even included Santigold inviting fans onstage for an impromptu dance contest.
