The Orlando Girls Rock Camp summer seminar for young and aspiring local rockers is currently underway. The multi-day crash course in performance, songwriting and DIY promotional fundamentals is geared toward local girls, nonbinary and trans youth.
As part of each year’s Camp, participants form ad hoc bands and ensembles during the Camp with the goal of performing at the culminating showcase event, held at a for-real local venue (no one’s playing around here).
So this Saturday, OGRC and the redoubtable Conduit team up for a matinee show where this year’s graduates show off what they’ve learned. It’s a pretty inspiring way to spend an early afternoon, instead of, say, numbly scrolling through horrors.
Orlando Girls Rock Camp happens at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 27, at Conduit. Entry is on a sliding scale cost of $13.92-$39.65, with proceeds going back to the Camp.
