Pop-star Doja Cat is bringing her Tour Ma Vie World Tour to Orlando, with rapper Latto serving ably as touring opener. The tour promotes Doja’s fifth album, Vie, which takes inspiration from the sounds and aesthetics of the 1980s, blending nostalgic synths, pop and R&B with her more modern songwriting.
It’s more than just a studio dalliance; recent shows have included a brass section, mime-inspired choreography, neon visuals, lasers, sparklers and elaborate pyrotechnics for the full retro-stadium rock experience. Interviews have seen her enthusing about musical and sartorial influences from the likes of Paula Abdul, Prince, Gary Numan and Grace Jones — Doja Cat is all in.
The Grammy-winning artist has built a fervent following for mixing catchy pop melodies with hip-hop grit and unconventional aesthetic presentation, all of which will be amply in evidence from the Kia Center’s stage.
7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, Kia Center, 400 W. Church St., kiacenter.com, $74.75- $779.40.
