Garage, punk and psych are all words that’ve been used to tag Toronto upstarts Wine Lips. While those descriptors capture parts of their sound, none of them quite encapsulate their soul.
All I know is that no punk or psych rock has ever made me wanna strip naked on the spot and hump a leg the way Wine Lips’ songs do. At their core, they’re a capital-R rock band — plain, simple and beautiful. In big-ass riffs and a pounding attack, they merge swaggering 1970s bombast with the velocity of punk. Most crucially, they’re carnal in a way that only true rock & roll can be.
Opening will be North Florida’s Killer Larry and Orlando’s Lemon Denim.
8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, Will’s Pub, $17-$20.
