Emerging from Gainesville’s vibrant and eclectic experimental music scene many years back, solo electronic act the Viirus (né Adam Batley) was delving into the unexplored depths of the analog synth underground far before acts like Boy Harsher and Cold Cave would bring that sound to the mainstream.
For years, the Viirus was an outlier, but his live sets were physical and dramatic enough to satisfy noise and punk audiences alike, and the Viirus became a scene fixture in Gainesville. Batley moved way out west a couple of years ago, but is returning to Central Florida for a one-off show, his first in the City Beautiful since 2016. His last emergence was on record last year as part of Plack Blague’s remix record on Phage Tapes.
The Viirus returns to Orlando on Friday, May 31 at 9 p.m. at Stonewall Bar. Tickets are $7.
