The proudly Boston-born-and-bred punk band’s annual Saint Patrick’s Day tour and festival made its stop in Orlando Thursday night, supported by Philadelphia’s Menzingers and Wyoming’s Teenage Bottlerocket.
The show was as raucous as it was wholesome, with full families in attendance reveling in the moment. In words of Murphys’ frontman Ken Casey, “Only in Florida can you paddleboard with alligators and 5-year-olds crowdsurf!”
The annual tour supports The Claddagh Fund, the Dropkick Murphys’ charitable foundation founded in 2009. The foundation supports community-based nonprofits with a focus on programs that support children, veterans and addiction rehabilitation.
After the set, Casey stayed on stage to connect with fans from across generations, even leading them in a rendition of Frank Sinatra’s “I Did It My Way,” before shipping back up to Boston for their hometown finale weekend.
