The Imperial is back in Winter Park, though not exactly where locals left it.

After closing its Morse Boulevard location in fall 2023, the American-style bar and kitchen has resurfaced just a few blocks away. The new spot, now dubbed The Imperial on Park, is located at 136 S. Park Ave., and it fills the space formerly occupied by Parkview — another wine bar that shuttered June 2024.

After the original Winter Park outpost — which served customers for five years — went dark in 2023, co-owners Drew Weisner and John Washburn moved kitchen equipment and some staff over to their Ivanhoe Village location and set their sights on a Park Avenue relaunch.

Now, the Park Avenue outpost leans more kitchen-forward than its predecessor. In addition to the usual lineup of wine and craft beer, the new space offers a full lunch and dinner menu led by Weisner, former executive chef of Dexter’s Thornton Park. Also on offer is weekly live music.

The Imperial first opened in Ivanhoe Village in 2010, pairing a furniture import store with a wine bar — a concept that eventually expanded to Sanford and Winter Park. While the new space forgoes the furnishings showroom element, it maintains the low-lit dining atmosphere and adds more square footage along one of the area’s busiest drags.
