The Harambe Market opens late May at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.The market will be styled after an open-air market and will offer African-themed street food as well as merchandise.Food will be a big part of the market, which will four walk-up windows where you an order various different dishes, and there will be seating for 200 people.The design is Colonial-era train depot, and it’s supposed to re-create a “bustling center of commerce where guest are welcomed from around the world.”There’s even a 1960s-era watertower.Chef Mwanga’s will serve spice-rubbed karubi ribs with green papaya-carrot slaw.The Kitamu Grill will serve skewered chicken and a kabob flatbread sandwich (pictured).A beverage window called Wanjohi Refreshments (“wanjohi” means “brewer” in Swahili) will serve South African wines, as well as Safari Amber Lager and Orlando Brewing I-4 IPA on draft. Other refreshments include a red sangria with Van der Hum tangerine liqueur from South Africa; the Starr of Harambe frozen drink made with with Starr African rum and served in a souvenir mug. Non-alcoholic offerings will include tangerine lemonade, and soft drinks from Zimbabwe and South Africa.The Kitamu Grill will serve skewered chicken (pictured) and a kabob flatbread sandwich.Famous Sausages will serve a corn dog inspired by a South African sausage called a boerewors, dipped in curry-infused corn batter.Disney says the food offerings will be similar to what you might find in a traditional African market.When the Harambe Market opens, it will double the size of Animal Kingdom’s Harambe Village.Coming soon!
