Southern cuisine specialist and reformed butter lover will speak and sign copies of her new book at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, at Barnes & Noble (2418 E. Colonial Drive). This appearance will promote Paula Deen Cuts the Fat, a new book of her favorite recipes “all lightened up” (apparently her days of cooking fried butter balls – a real thing she actually made on TV – are over).
If you love Southern cooking but can’t make it to this event – or if you think there’s something questionable about booking a Paula Deen appearance in February – here are some other recent cookbooks you may enjoy:
- Looking for Southern cred? Sean Brock, Heritage
- Looking for healthier dishes with a Southern spin? Hugh Acheson, The Broad Fork
- Looking for a TV personality? Edward Lee, Smoke & Pickles
This article appears in Feb 3-9, 2016.
