Work on Pig Floyd’s Winter Park location is fully underway in the old Bubbalou’s space on Lee Road, and owner Thomas Ward is ambitiously trying to get it completed before the end of the year. Like the original location in Mills 50, Pig Floyd’s Lee Road will also feature a sizable patio area. We first reported on this venture in 2021.

More Maitland food news: Melt Brownie has opened in the former Sourdough Bread House space at 110 N. Orlando Ave. Melt specializes in brownies with crisp edges and melty centers in assorted flavors including birthday cake and white chocolate raspberry. Brownie cakes and bite-sized “melt minis” are also offered.

Over at Maitland Social, The Packwoods, a craft cocktail bar from Thriving Hospitality (Lamp & Shade Craft Kitchen, Thrive Cocktail Lounge & Eatery), aims to open its 1,400-square-foot watering hole later this month.

And, finally, the marquee is up for Parea Greek Taverna, which is opening in the old Outpost Kitchen space at the very prominent intersection of Horatio and South Orlando avenues at Maitland City Centre. The concept comes from the team behind Bosphorous Turkish Cuisine. Parea is also targeting a late-October opening.

The Salty Donut, the popular Miami-based doughnut shop, will open a second area location to complement the one in Audubon Park — this one in the tourist sector at the Vineland Pointe retail complex at 7655 Lake St. No word on an opening date.

The Four Seasons Resort debuts an adults-only, library-inspired speakeasy called Epilogue next weekend. The space will pay homage to Florida with the intimate room designed to reflect a midcentury-modern aesthetic with an Art Deco flair. Guests can expect “innovative, artfully presented cocktails” evoking the state’s lush vegetation and citrus heritage, as well as gourmet bar snacks. The experience will be offered on select Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights with seatings at 6 and 8 p.m.

Giovanni’s Pizzeria & Kitchen will celebrate 30 years of serving the greater Orlando area by opening their fifth restaurant to join the ones in Lake Mary, Lake Nona, Boggy Creek and Oviedo; the new Giovanni’s will open at 49591 U.S. Highway 27 in Davenport on Oct. 17.

Caribbean restaurant Island Vybz Fusion Grill has opened at 2601 S. Orange Blossom Trail.

Look for Kelly’s Homemade Ice Cream to join the roster of food vendors at the Kia Center.

On the heels of Thai Basil closing after 20 years, another Winter Springs institution is calling it quits. Dominick’s Restaurant, an Italian bistro that opened in 1990, is closing “due to health reasons and the unavailability of workers.”
