PopUp Bagels is opening in Winter Park and, be forewarned, parking in the cramped front and back lots may be a bit of a bitch. That’s because bagel hounds are expected to swarm the little white building near the corner of Orlando and Fairbanks avenues when the shop starts baking its unsliced, untoasted, steaming-hot bagels beginning May 29.
Those warm rounds are meant to be “gripped, ripped and dipped” into one of their many schmears, ranging from plain cream cheese to chimichurri butter, with special flavors like spicy scallion cream cheese released weekly. For the Winter Park launch, a limited-time-only chocolate chip banana bread schmear will be available while supples last.

PopUp’s bagels are offered in plain, salt, poppy, sesame and everything varieties and sold by the bag, with a three-bagel minimum that includes one schmear for $13. Bagels are not sold individually.
Like H&H Bagels, which recently opened in Jamestown Place in the Altamonte Springs/Longwood corridor, the Westport, Connecticut-based PopUp Bagels is on a nationwide expansion tear. Outposts have recently been opened across Maine, California, New York City and North Carolina, and in Florida, locations exist in Tampa, Jacksonville, West Palm Beach, Delray Beach and Aventura, with another opening planned for Viera on June 5.
PopUp Bagels will open in the old Soho Juice Co. space at 646 S. Orlando Ave. [map]. Be sure to follow @popupbagels for all the latest.
