Look for another to open at the end of the month on City Plaza Way in Oviedo … Peppino’s Organic Italian Kitchen & Pizzeria will serve Neapolitan-style pies with Sicilian flavorings when it opens in the Hourglass District sometime after Thanksgiving … Also in the Hourglass District, look for the aptly named Hourglass Brewery to open their second location next to Peppino’s … Metro Diner will open another area restaurant Dec. 12 on University Boulevard near UCF.

EVENTS: Luma on Park hosts a wine dinner Wednesday, Nov. 29, featuring a five-course meal prepared by chef Brandon McGlamery and wines by Opus One. Cost is $300 … The seventh annual Cupcake Challenge, in support of Dress for Success Greater Orlando, goes from 2-4 p.m. Dec. 3 at the Winter Park Civic Center; yours truly will be a judge. Tickets are $22 for adults, $12 for children … Second Harvest Food Bank’s Chef’s Night Series concludes for the year Dec. 7 as Trina Gregory-Propst of Se7en Bites whips up a five-course breakfast for dinner. Cost is $50 … On Dec. 9, the third annual James Beard Foundation Celebrity Chef Tour rolls into Ravello at the Four Seasons Resort featuring such top chefs as Paula DaSilva of Burlock Coast in Fort Lauderdale; Dean Max, chef/owner of DJM Restaurants (which operates seven restaurants in the U.S. and Caribbean); James Boyce of Cotton Row in Huntsville, Alabama; the Rusty Spoon’s Kathleen Blake; as well as executive chef Fabrizio Schenardi and executive pastry chef Rabii Saber of the Four Seasons Resort Orlando. Cost for the six-course dinner with wine pairings is $235.

NEWS: In further news concerning the most unnecessary food competition of the year, Orlando’s Signature Dish – or rather, Orlando’s Signature Honey Based Dessert – will be announced Dec. 7 by tourism board Visit Orlando.
