Welcome to our monthly roundup of places to get lunch for less than $10. This month, we place a focus on restaurants south of downtown; some of these businesses have been adversely affected by street closures after the Pulse nightclub shootings. Carol’s Place 3421 S. Orange Ave., 407-251-8860 Do breakfast for lunch at this homey diner, or choose traditional weekday lunch specials like meatloaf, pot roast, hot open-faced turkey and more. But get there early; they close at 2 p.m.

Chai Thai Cuisine 2447 S. Orange Ave., 407-841-8981, chaithaicuisine.letseat.at A warm, nourishing bowl of tom kha gai soup, rich with coconut milk and brimming with chicken, mushrooms and herbs, is just $4.95.

Italian House 1400 S. Crystal Lake Drive, 407-895-0505, italianhouserestaurant.com What could be more comforting than oven-baked, mozzarella-topped eggplant parmigiana? Their lunch portion is $8.95, and you’ll have leftovers.

Julie’s Waterfront 4201 S. Orange Ave., 407-240-2557 Treat yourself to a plate of conch fritters ($6.99) and a beer, sit by the lake and try to forget you have to go back to work at some point.

Numero Uno Restaurant 2499 S. Orange Ave., 407-841-3840, numerounocubanrestaurant.com Lunch specials (available weekdays between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.) at this longtime Cuban favorite range from $7 to $8 for dishes like picadillo, papas rellenos and higao salteado.

Oley’s Kitchen & BBQ 2700 Rio Grande Ave., 407-422-7288, oleyskitchen.com Jerk chicken salad ($7.99)? It’s Caribbean health food.

The Smoothie Room 25 W. Crystal Lake St., 407-250-4894, thesmoothieroom.com The 20-ounce Butter Face smoothie is $6.99 worth of healthy in the form of almond milk, blueberries, banana, granola and peanut butter. Pro tip: Add turmeric for an extra $1; worth it.

Vanbarry’s Public House 4120 S. Orange Ave., 407-704-8881, orlandopublichouses.com We can’t think of a better way to celebrate Friday lunch than Vanbarry’s Dizzy Pig burger ($9.40), adorned with bacon, Swiss cheese and sautéed mushrooms.
