The recent trend of pairing adventurous composers with groundbreaking pieces of silent film history — we’re thinking specifically of Central Florida Composers Forum taking on Murnau’s Nosferatu — continues with the Maitland Art and History Center hosting creative ensemble Alcoléa live-soundtracking the fantastical visions of Georges Méliès.

The aptly titled Right in the Eye (a playful pun on a rocketship zipping straight into the peeper of an anthropomorphic moon in A Trip to the Moon) has been toured around the world by this French sound collective, complementing Méliès’ works with suitably arcane instruments like the theremin, melodica and glockenspiel. This event is part of the weeklong VI FIAE multimedia event series.

7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, Art & History Museums Maitland, 231 W. Packwood Ave., Maitland, artandhistory.org, donations encouraged.
