The 1922 silent film Nosferatu created the cinematic template for vampires employed almost universally to the present day. Now you can see what all the bloody hubbub is about with this one-off collab screening between Enzian Theater and the Central Florida Composers Forum. Subtitled “Shadows and Sound,” the silent filmworld of director F.W. Murnau will be fleshed out by an original musical score crafted by 14 Central Florida composers and performed live in the theater by the Fernwood String Quartet as the movie runs.
“We wanted to turn that process inside-out and make it a community project. Musical ideas pass from composer to composer — like a vampire’s bite — creating seamless connections between scenes and between 14 very different musical perspectives,” said CF2 founder Charlie Griffin in a press statement.
The first screening at noon is already sold out, and we suspect tickets for this second afternoon screening will soon be sucked dry.
