The dead have plenty of stories to tell. This Halloween, it’s up to the living in Orlando to go searching for them. TalkDeath’s annual Cemetery Scavenger Hunt tasks attendees with spending an afternoon among the headstones at Greenwood Cemetery in search of the arcane and historical.

Greenwood has no shortage of history to dig into (figuratively!). Dating back to the 1880s, the grounds hold the graves of notable figures like baseball legend Joe Tinker and former Mayor Bob Carr. But apparently, not everyone is resting peacefully under the moss-draped oak trees. Local legends tell of ghostly children playing with flashlights and Confederate soldiers wandering after dark.

Participants have one hour to decipher clues and photograph matching graves and monuments. The free event is part of TalkDeath’s mission to normalize conversations about mortality and see cemeteries as more than final resting places. Prizes await those who find 13 clues (not ghosts!) first, uncover the most clues or snap the most creative photos.

2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, Greenwood Cemetery, 1603 Greenwood St., talkdeath.com, free.
