SeaWorld announced today its Orlando water park will open a manta ray-themed water slide called Ray Rush in spring 2018.
The ride has three unique components. First, the 60-foot-tall slide will launch riders through enclosed tubes at 33 feet per second. Then, riders will swirl through a colossal translucent sphere before entering another section of tubes. Finally, the experience ends as riders soar through an open-air halfpipe resembling a manta ray's wings before entering the final splash zone.
"Aquatica will be the first water park in the state to combine these three unique elements into one attraction," said Cathy Valeriano, Aquatica Orlando vice president, in a statement. "Ray Rush is the perfect addition to our attraction portfolio, complementing what is already one of the most family-friendly waterslide lineups in Orlando."
HooRoo Run, a six-story triple-drop ride, will close for good on Tuesday, Oct. 31, to make way for the new attraction. Walhalla Wave, a six-story water maze, will close temporarily to accommodate construction and will later reopen alongside Rush Ray.
The ride will have a height requirement of 42 inches and accommodate up to four people on each raft.
