Homecumming is a raunchy yet sensitive solo piece that uses the loss of female libido and orgasms as a way to reflect on feelings of grief, depression and self-reclamation women can experience in their youth. The mononymous Magalie gives a performance that is bold and physically committed, as the show often walks a fine line between making the audience feel uncomfortable and experiencing catharsis. Overall, every moment of the show feels intentional rather than careless, even if it’s sometimes highly explicit.

The adult rating on this show is well-earned — the content at times felt abrasive even for me as Magalie pushes boundaries. However, that sharpness also helps the emotional tension land as the script turns more vulnerable and relatable. Underneath the cheekiness, the performance really discusses what can happen to women when trauma interrupts desire, confidence and the ability to feel fully alive, especially in their 20s.

The acting within this piece is strong throughout, and Magalie’s willingness to be both funny and exposed gives it real momentum. Homecumming may not be appreciated by all audiences, but for audiences that are open to something raw, explicit and emotionally direct, it offers a very sincere and heartwarming finish.
