Even more so than “Monster Parties: Fact or Fiction?” the burning question in every true horror hound’s mind is who would triumph in a struggle betwixt vampires and werewolves (that does NOT take place in the Twilight universe). Drag army La Petit Mort attempted to answer that question this week – with singular style, metric tons of novelty fangs and oceans of fake blood.
A usually sleepy Monday night saw Will’s Pub packed to near-sellout capacity with eager horror-drag acolytes ready to take in the terrifying spectacle. Host Allie Slasher and DJ Pup Rocky presided over two shows that included the likes of Slasher, Davi Oddity, Anesthesia, Spit Stormer, Alexandria Hell, Eden Heartz, Good Old Fashion and Evan Essence. Punk and gothic and glam and hyperpop and grindhouse aesthetics collided in a wonderfully messy fashion, with performers vamping (and wolfing) to everything from Korn to Depeche Mode.
The night also saw the horrifying spectacle of a costume contest, interactive games and an open stage to close the night. At the end of the evening, all involved stumbled out into the night elated and exhausted, but mindful of the fact that they needed to be back in their crypts and coffins before the sun arose.
