Viral Florida home with a hidden 'dungeon' is now on the market

A Florida home for sale is raising questions on social media over an unusual dungeon-like basement hidden behind one of its bedroom doors.

Real estate agent Jessica Law shared a video of the home, located at 18785 NW 240th St. in High Springs, on Tik Tok, where more than 12,000 users left comments speculating what the hidden room could have been used for.

In her video, Law says she opened what she thought was a closet door to find an iron barred door which opens to a staircase leading to a completely cement block-walled room under the house.

Inside the room appears to be only a small rug, a bean bag chair and a dehumidifier. The room has functional water and electricity, Law says.

"It is set up to house, you know, living things," she says in the video.

The house was built in 1958, which many commenters used as reasoning for the assumption the room was intended as a fallout shelter or nuclear war bunker. Others theorized the room is a storm shelter, panic room, a "werewolf den for full moons," a "dungeon" or simply "something from Criminal Minds."

The home has three bedrooms and two bathrooms with a total of 1,524 square feet. On the home's half-acre lot, there's a shed, a workshop and a well, according to the listing.

The home is priced at $285,000 and the listing agent is John Caldwell with BHHS Florida Realty.
