Photos: Universal Orlando Resort shares first official look into Epic Universe

Universal Orlando Resort announced Tuesday the first official details about its newest endeavor: Epic Universe, a new theme park coming in 2025. The park will feature five themed worlds, three new resorts and more than 50 new immersive experiences.

Celestial Park will serve as the heart of the new park. This area will offer several different water and light shows daily and will feature three distinct attractions: Starfall Racers, Constellation Carousel and Astronomica.

Starfall Racers is a high-speed dual-launch ride with two shooting star-themed coasters that spin and intertwine, reminiscent of Universal’s past Dueling Dragons ride. Constellation Carousel will allow guests to ride on celestial lions, dragons and bears (… oh my!). The carousel glides forward and backward and makes 360-degree rotations. Finally, Astronomica is a water play area complete with fountains that also serve as a large compass.

Surrounding Celestial Park will be four themed portals into the rest of the themed worlds, including "How to Train Your Dragon — Isle of Berk," "Dark Universe," "Super Nintendo World" and "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Ministry of Magic."

"How to Train Your Dragon — Isle of Berk" will be themed around dragons and Vikings. “Dark Universe” will lean into Universal’s history with horror and will feature their classic monsters. Guests will be able to step through the classic green pipe into “Super Nintendo World” and experience video games in real life with familiar characters Mario, Donkey Kong and more.

Harry Potter fans can experience the wizarding world in a new light in "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Ministry of Magic." Different from Universal’s "Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Hogsmeade" and "Diagon Alley," the new world is set in a 1920s wizarding Paris, as featured in the film Fantastic Beasts.

Located inside the theme park and overlooking Celestial Park will be the 500-room Helios Grand Hotel, which will have its very own entrance to the park. There also will be two other hotels opening: Universal Stella Nova Resort and Universal Terra Luna Resort.

Universal has not yet released an exact opening date for Epic Universe, only saying that it will open in 2025. An interactive preview center at Universal CityWalk will offer a sneak peek of the new theme park, the park said.
