Photos: First look at Penguin Trek, SeaWorld's new coaster opening this spring

SeaWorld's upcoming roller coaster Penguin Trek has launched into the early construction phases of its journey, and Orlando Weekly got a first look into the Arctic action.

Set to open in spring 2024, Penguin Trek will feature snowmobile-style ride cars that take riders on an adventure through the Antarctic wilderness. The new coaster is under construction in the space previously occupied by the indoor trackless ride Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin.

Penguin Trek will have a height requirement of 42 inches and accommodate riders up to 77 inches tall, making it a "family thrill."

The coaster includes two launches and top speeds of 43 mph through more than 3,000 feet of track. Riders will experience both indoor and outdoor scenes as part of a story that follows a penguin research mission.

The attraction doesn’t end when the ride is over, as guests complete their mission at SeaWorld’s penguin habitat.
