A secluded 51-acre island only accessible by boat or seaplane is heading to auction in Central Florida — now with $1 million knocked off the price. (No BOGO, though.)
The island, dubbed
Bird Island, is located in the middle of Lake Griffin, which is part of the Harrison Chain of Lakes, just outside of the Villages. The 1,120-square-foot house, the only house on the island, has two bedrooms and one bathroom, plus a wrap-around porch and vaulted ceilings.
According to the listing, the island is already zoned for additional, larger homes to be built on the nearly 4 acres of cleared land.
Bird Island is going to auction with a base price of $1,350,000 — that's down from asking price of $2.7 million in early 2021, and down from $6.7 million before that. The island is set to go to auction Oct. 18 with real estate firm Tranzon Driggers, in cooperation with Whitetail Properties Real Estate.
Bidding opens Oct. 11.
