A rare spring house, built from local cypress trees, is now for sale on Florida's Rainbow River

A literal treehouse that's just a few paddles away from a first magnitude freshwater spring is now for sale in Marion County.

Located at 11170 SW 190th Ave. in Dunnellon, the home was built in 1962 and sits on 86 feet of frontage along the Rainbow River, just downstream from the KP Hole.

For the unfamiliar, Rainbow River is one of the most popular tubing stretches in the state, producing about 400-600 million gallons of crystalline 72-degree water every day from the springs numerous vents at Rainbow Springs State Park.

So it's not surprising that waterfront homes rarely come on the market here, or along any of Florida's freshwater springs, for that matter.

But this particular home is for sale, and it offers 1,684 square feet of living space, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Notably, it also features a unique design choice: According to the listing, the home's original owners used nearby cypress trees as support columns for the interior of the residence.

The river house is currently asking $875,000, and the listing agent is Valerie Hanchar of Bricks & Mortar Real Estate.
