Roll for initiative! Tabletop games are arguably more popular today than they have been in years, with Cards Against Humanity stimulating conversation at parties and Settlers of Catan getting name-checked by the Green Bay Packers. Now Acme Comics in Longwood is devoting an entire afternoon to the king granddaddy 20th-level wizard of tabletop games, Dungeons & Dragons. Not so much a competition as a large group session, this event will divide players into separate groups, all working on a piece of a bigger story. Prizes are raffled off throughout the day, so bring some extra gold. Attendees are also encouraged to cosplay, but don’t expect a bonus to your armor class. Even if you don’t know an attack roll from a difficulty check, D&D’s new fifth edition rules (aka D&D Next) help streamline the game to get your new character out of the tavern, cracking orc skulls and making racial epithets toward elves (dwarves 4 lyfe, son!) as quickly as possible.
