Orlando isn’t projected to bear the worst of the heat wave (thankfully), though the weekend high projected to hit a very, very roasty 96 degrees.
Meanwhile, Tallahassee is expected to face the brunt of the heat, as temperatures are projected to hit triple digits. (The previous May record for Tallahassee was set on May 27, 1953, when temperatures peaked at a whopping 102 degrees.) Similarly, Jacksonville and Gainesville also are forecast to reach as high as 99 degrees over the weekend.
That’s hot, even by Sunshine State standards.
Experts recommend avoiding prolonged exposure to the heat, wearing loose-fitting and light-colored clothing, taking advantage of available shade, and drinking plenty of cool liquids. In other words, it’s time to get nearly naked and hit the pool.
