Osceola County has issued a countywide curfew starting 8 p.m. Wednesday and remaining in effect until 10 a.m. Thursday.

“A curfew will be in place across Osceola County, including the Cities of Kissimmee and St. Cloud, starting at 8 p.m. tonight (10/09) until 10 a.m. tomorrow (10/10),” the county says.

The curfew does not apply to first responders, health care workers or other essential employees.

The county reported around noon Wednesday that 609 people were in shelters. Those with the largest capacity included Celebration High School, Harmony High School and Liberty High School.

As of the time of the announcement, Kissimmee Middle School was at full capacity, but Gateway High School still had space available.

A tornado watch has been issued for parts of Central Florida including Osceola and Polk counties until 9 p.m.
