OPD officers responded to the apartment complex on 4757 Silver Star Road at 3:04 p.m. Monday and determined a “full term baby had been born and discarded,” says police spokesperson Sgt. Wanda Ford in a news release. Search and Rescue of Central Florida brought in dogs and volunteers to search for the baby, who police are calling “Baby Willow.” Police searched for the baby in the area and in nearby dumpsters, but could not find her.
Baby Willow’s mother was found, and she admitted giving birth to a baby girl. Police are asking anyone who was near Willow Bend Apartments to let them know if they saw a 5-foot-4 black woman who’s about 31 years old with a slim build between 10 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. on Monday.
