Florida’s general election is coming up fast, which means the deadline to register to vote isalso coming up fast. Here’s the quick-and-dirty on what you need to know.
Florida’s general election is Tuesday, Nov. 3. Several state and federal offices are on the ballot, including Florida governor, Orange County Mayor, a highly-watched U.S. Senate seat and more.
The deadline for Floridians to register to vote in the general election is Monday, Oct. 5. The deadline to register to vote by mail is Oct. 22 at 5 p.m. Early voting kicks off Saturday, Oct. 24 (or Oct. 19 in Orange County), and vote-by-mail ballots will hit the streets starting in late September.
Am I registered to vote?
Not sure of your voter registration status? You can check your status, register to vote, or update your registration online at registertovoteflorida.gov. If you live in Orange County, you can also check your registration status at voteorangefl.gov/check-your-status.
Can I vote early?
Any and all registered Orange County voters can vote early. You can find a list of the 27 Orange County early voting locations online now, or search for your assigned polling place. All you need to bring to vote early is a valid, non-expired photo and signature ID.
If you’ve moved to Orange County from another Florida county and haven’t updated your voter registration yet, you can do so at an early voting site, or online beforehand.

When can I vote early?
Florida’s early voting period is Oct. 24 to 31 (spooky!). Orange County’s, though, is Monday, Oct. 19 to Sunday, Nov. 1 from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. daily.
Can I vote by mail?
Yes! The deadline to request a vote-by-mail ballot is 5 p.m. on the 12th day before the election. It needs to be received by the Supervisor of Elections’ office no later than 7 p.m. on Election Day.
What the hell does that mean? The deadline to request a vote-by-mail ballot is Thursday, Oct. 22 by 5 p.m.
