Do the right thing, drivers, or Orange County sheriffs will refresh your memory with a hefty fine.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office released a video on Twitter Thursday to remind motorists to follow traffic law as it relates to school bus safety. The tweet also mentions that a driver caught not stopping for a school bus in the process of loading or unloading children can be assessed a fine up to $269 and get points on their license.

“What we’d like to do is make sure that motorists be mindful that school is still in session and that they need to be aware of what their surroundings are, as far as a school bus stopping and picking these children up,” says Sgt. Charles Kochanowski.

“If there’s not a median there, then they must stop for that school bus once the lights are activated,” Sgt. Kochanowski said.
