Online retail behemoth Amazon has plans to open a new distribution center in Daytona Beach, according to the Orlando Business Journal.
OBJ reports the roughly 300,000-square-foot distribution center will be situated near the Trader Joe’s distribution center. VanTrust Real Estate, a firm based out of Missouri, is reportedly in charge of developing the property.
Amazon declined to comment.
Orlando Weekly also reached out to VanTrust Real Estate and the City of Daytona Beach for confirmation and additional comment.
It’s unclear how much the project may cost. OBJ notes that industry standards require about $19.5 million in funding for construction. VanTrust Real Estate plans to kickoff construction on the project as early as the first half of this year, OBJ reports.
In August, Amazon opened its 130-acre, $132 million fulfillment facility in nearby Lake Nona. Early estimates expected the center to bring as many as 1,500 full-time jobs to the area.
