Once upon a time, instead of a bougie pedestrian mall across from a Trader Joe’s and a Shake Shack, the corner of Morse and 17-92 in Winter Park was home to a semi-dilapidated Best Western Inn across from … not much. And in that Best Western was a pocket-sized nirvana known as the Red Fox, where partiers of every age and political persuasion could happily drink, smoke, and groove on the oddball lounge duo together. Those of us who whiled away nights in the pitch-dark confines of the Red Fox will always miss it, but here’s a Valentine’s Day party steeped in that early-aughts nostalgia. Proceeds benefit the American Heart Association (aww) and a huge lineup of entertainment includes local acts like Someday Honey, JunoSmile and Eugene Snowden. May every Lorna find her Mark tonight.
