Of the great, fertile wave of early 2000s indie folk that brought artists like Iron & Wine, Sufjan Stevens and Cass McCombs, Canada’s Great Lake Swimmers are one of the era’s best, most underrated acts. Then, in the 2010s, folk went pop, got unreasonably cute and everything went to hell. But not Great Lake Swimmers.

They’ve stayed their course and have continued to make spacious folk music of beauty and atmosphere for nearly a quarter-century. So put down the Mumford, son, and come see the quiet majesty of Great Lake Swimmers in one of their rare appearances here.

8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, Tuffy’s Music Box, 200 S. Myrtle Ave., Sanford, tuffysmusicbox.com, $22.
