Of all the eras that hip-hop has sired in its half-century of world-changing evolution, none will ever be as illustrious as its New York City origins. Fortunately, Orlando’s blessed with a living temple to that belle époque in the Commission Beer Chamber, a neighborhood bar that pays open tribute to those golden roots and is a clubhouse to the keepers of the flame.
To mark six years in culture-keeping business, the Commission is throwing a block party that celebrates its foundational principles: hip-hop and community. Performers include DJ Spree, Throwback Champ, My Good Phelo, DJ Jaymob, Kaotic Blaze, DJ Razor Cut, Sucio Boys and more star cameos. It’ll be a full day of live art, food, vendors and, of course, hip-hop nonstop.
