A (different) cold surge from New York is headed this way — again.

Last time Bronx bopper Jean Lorenzo brought his synth project Silent EM to Orlando, the dance floor of a pre-demic Stonewall sizzled with electricity for days afterward. Attendees of said show six Septembers ago will recall Lorenzo’s dual command over a serpentine synth rig and a hot mic frozen in its tracks by a sudden chill in the air (not to mention those moves).

While his heavenward gestures imbue the live performance with a sense of the sacred, Silent EM’s lyrics are anything but. On his new single, “Institution,” Lorenzo makes it clear he “don’t want you praying for [him]” as his synths stomp and shimmer. Joining Lorenzo live on guitar is St. Pete synth star and longtime collaborator Nic Hamersly aka Ortrotasce.

Coldwave connoisseurs: Take note of this alignment and witness it in real life.
