While Asian representation in general is small in Western R&B, South Asian representation is even more minuscule. But new beacons like Raveena could change that.

The bright rising artist has blazed a new trail by blending her Indian heritage with American R&B, soul, pop and jazz. She’s a fresh, young face bringing a sophisticated sound that’s at once classic and modern. (Her latest album, Where the Butterflies Go in the Rain, even features a cameo by JPEGMAFIA.)
