Local avant-rock stars Obliterati have been, as the coffee mug saying goes, keeping Orlando weird for the better part of 20 years (give or take a 14-year hiatus). But all good things must come to an end, and this extraordinarily loose collective of fringe musicians, artists and agitators are poised to hang it up for good … after one last show in May.

With no reasons given in a somewhat tersely worded Facebook post – though they also revealed that they would be doing a second set of Bad Afro Experience material at the swan song show – this is the end of an era for local left-field sounds. Check out their 2017 Band of the Week interview in this very publication for (sort of) more information on the band.

Obliterati say goodbye in style at Will’s Pub with Permanent Makeup and Ironing(!) on Friday, May 17 at 9 p.m. Tickets can be purchased here.
