Do you like a good mystery with your heavy music? Norma Jean are coming to town — a big deal, surely — but they’re bringing along a cryptically monikered opener. And there’s some fevered (and spot-on) online speculation that it’s a big-name Florida act flying under the radar.

Norma Jean are playing three nights in Florida with openers Limbs (known quantity) and the mysterious Locus Ultra. While one could charitably assume that Norma Jean are giving some new kids on the block a break, the reality might be a bit more juicy — and of interest to metal fans. To put it bluntly, there’s a pretty good chance that Locus Ultra is actually Tampa metalcore stars Underoath.

Redditors already claim to have sussed the matter out conclusively, saying that, indeed, Locus Ultra are Underoath under masks trying their hands at “drone discotheque.” So if you’re an Underoath fan, maybe give Tuesday’s show a second look and come early for the (wink) openers.

For their part, headliners Norma Jean will be fresh off the Emo’s Not Dead Cruise (where members of Underoath where also present, hmmm) and promise that they’ll be shuffling their setlists all three nights of this brief Florida run.

Norma Jean, LocU(nderoath)s U(nderoath)ltra and Limbs play the Abbey on Tuesday, Feb. 11, at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are still available through Ticketweb.
