Construction is expected to begin on the new Ace Cafe outpost in Sanford imminently, with a groundbreaking ceremony set for this weekend.

As we reported back in May, the combination venue/restaurant/retail space and motorcycle enthusiasts’ hub is set reopen at the old Horstmeyer Farm & Garden space at 115 N. Laurel Ave. in Sanford. Top brass from the former Ace Cafe in Orlando — along with Sean Kelley of 73 Moto — have paired up to bring the venue and restaurant to Sanford after the downtown location closed in 2023.

Construction begins in earnest in the next couple of days. And the projected opening date for the new Ace Cafe is this summer.

To mark the occasion, there will be a groundbreaking and “groundshaking” ceremony at Henry’s Depot on Saturday, Feb. 1 at noon. Ace Cafe management and Sanrord civic leaders will be joined by a phalanx of vintage cars and motorcycles that will duly let rip.
