Eric Alexander plays Labor Day Jazz Festival

A holiday jazz festival started up in Chicago is moving south this year to Timucua Arts White House to close out Labor Day weekend. The day features sets from heady locals and Windy City jazzers in various trio and quartet lineups, including pianist Jim Holman, guitarist LaRue Nickelson, percussionist Johnbern Thomas, bassist Alejandro Arenas, bassist Mark Neuenschwander and drummer Ian Goodman.

Heading up all the fun is superlative Chi-town saxophonist and hard-bop revivalist Eric Alexander, playing two sets to wind both up and down the evening. The $50 ticket is a bit more expensive than usual for Timucua shows, but this gets you not only a long day of music, but also a cookout and free beer. All your (elevated) holiday needs are covered with this one.

3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 7; Timucua Arts white house, 2000 S. Summerlin Ave.; timucua.com, $50.
