Remember Rebecca Black? If the song “Friday” was the last time you clocked her, we have a lot to catch you up on. Since her viral but somewhat awkward hit became an internet sensation in 2011, Black has channeled her early YouTube fame into a vibrant career as a novelty-free musician. She’s spent the last 15 years putting in the work to become a serious force in the pop world.

Black released her debut album in 2023, Let Her Burn, and it showed everyone the joke was over. Then she went even further, collaborating with future-forward rulebreakers like Slayyyter and Dorian Electra. Her most recent record, Age of the Exhibitionist, features a bold, experimental pop sound that builds on the outsider foundation of these collabs. “Experimentation is the key,” she told an interviewer recently. Catch up on Rebecca Black in-person at the Beacham this Thursday (definitely not Friday).

7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, The Beacham, 46 N. Orange Ave., thebeacham.com, $29.50-$40.
